Michael has been teaching music in the North Middlesex (MA) School District since 2002 working with students in grades five through twelve. He also coaches the award winning percussion section of the NM Marching Band, and founded a middle school percussion ensemble. Prior to this appointment, he taught percussion for the wind ensemble at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute under the direction of Frank Battisti, conducting the percussion ensemble at Tanglewood's Seiji Ozawa Hall. Mr. Day is a graduate of Boston University, having studied timpani with Tim Genis, and percussion with Richard Flannigan. Mr. Day plays regularly throughout the northest. While he specializes in timpani and classical percussion, his work with students include drumset and world drumming.
